BADAL DIRECTS MARKFED TO SUPPLY DAP AT OLD RATES TO FARMERS THROUGH COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES

MARKFED ALLOTTED TARGET OF 1,28,000 TONNE OF DAP
CHANDIGARH JUNE 19:On the personal directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, the Markfed would ensure supply of DAP to the farmers through the Cooperative Societies across the state at old rates during the current Kharif season  thereby benefiting them to the tune of Rs.74.82 crore. 
            Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the CMO said that the Markfed had initiated arrangements well in advance during February & March this year and accumulated 1,29,000 tonne of DAP till date.   The State government had already fixed a target of 1,28,000 tonne of DAP to be supplied through Markfed in the cooperative sector for the sowing of crops in the ensuing Kharif season.  
It may be recalled that the companies supplying DAP had fixed its rate at Rs.24,000/- per tonne from Rs.18200/- thereby hiking the price of DAP by Rs. 1200 per bag of 50 Kg. w.e.f. June 1, 2012 from Rs.910 per bag.
