Golden Arrow Division is truly the ‘Sentinel of Ferozepur’.
The Golden Arrow Division  is an old and historic formation having
fought with distinction in both the world wars, as also the Indo – Pak
wars of 1965 and 1971.
During the World War I, the Division fought admirably in Mesopotamia
and Palestine.  It captured 25000 Turkish soldiers in heroic action,
paving the way for the capture of Turkey by the British.   During
World War II, the Division saw active action in Burma and fought in
the gallant battle of the Admin Box.  Spearheading General Slim’s
relentless offensive over the Irrawady River, the Division earned a
fearsome reputation for itself.  Gen Slim was extremely proud of the
Division and famously stated  ‘You of the 7 Indian Division have
earned fame for youselves equal to that of the most famous Indian
Divisions’.
In the Indo – Pak war of 1965, the Division spearheaded operations
deep into Pakistan.  It captured Barki, on the banks of Icchogil,
thereby threatening Lahore.  In the Indo – Pak war of 1971, the
Division again took the battle to the enemy and captured the Sehjra
Bulge during the early days of the war itself.
