3-week GOC concluded at Guru Nanak Dev University

Amritsar, July 4:- A 3-week General Orientation Course-89 was concluded here today at the Academic Staff College (ASC) of the Guru Nanak Dev University.
Dr. Manjit Singh, Professor, Department of Sociology and Director Centre for Study of Social Exclusion, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function.
Prof. Manjit Singh lauded the teaching profession as one of the best professions. He asked the teachers to feel proud of their profession. He exhorted the teachers to imbibe the moral, ethical and human values professed by the great saints.
He also expressed his concern over the various evils like consumerism, individualism, greediness etc. effecting our society in the modern times and asked the teachers to play a positive and constructive role to create awareness in the society.
Earlier, Prof. T.S. Banipal, Director, Academic Staff College & Dr. Mohan Kumar, Deputy Director, Academic Staff College welcomed the Chief Guest. Prof. Banipal spoke about the usefulness of such courses for the overall betterment of the teachers.
Prof. Banipal congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the GOC. He hoped that the knowledge gained by the participants during these days will definitely help them to become better teachers. Dr Mohan Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
