CM FOR PERIODIC REVIEW OF PERFORMANCE OF IAS, PCS, CLASS A&B OFFICERS IN VIEW OF GoI’s GUIDELINES  

DEAD WOOD MUST BE DEALT WITH TO TONE UP ADMINISTRATIVE MACHINERY
 
CHANDIGARH JULY 05:   In a bid to bring improvement and enhance efficiency in the functioning of the government offices, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today asked the Chief Secretary to immediately constitute a committee under his chairmanship to review the performance of the government officers in accordance with the Govt. of India’s guidelines on periodic review of performance, efficiency and conduct of All India Service Officers after 15, 20, 25 years service.
            Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the CMO said that Mr. Badal asked the Chief Secretary to submit a quarterly report in this regard to him so that inefficient, irresponsible and undesirable officers should not continue to burden the administration.  It was observed that efficient, agile and responsive administrative machinery was the need of the hour.  In this context the review of functioning of government officers was essential so that the dead wood in the administration was dealt with in time to keep the administrative machinery at its best all the times.
Mr. Badal also asked the Chief Secretary to put in place similar mechanism for PCS and all Class A&B officers in the service of state government.  The relevant service rules may also be considered for amendment, if need be.  The Chief Minister desired strict compliance in this behalf, the spokesperson added.
