SPECIAL DRIVE AGAINST POs WANTED IN VIGILANCE CASES  

Chandigarh July 5-With a view to take strict measures against the Proclaimed Offenders (POs), a special drive was launched by the State Vigilance Bureau to apprehend the absconders in various vigilance cases. Total 71 POs were absconding in various cases registered by Bureau in the state and the Bureau would publish photographs of the remaining absconding POs in the newspapers.
Disclosing this here today Sh. Suresh Arora DGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that as a result of special drive, the Bureau has succeeded in arresting 8 POs during the month of June. "Moreover, while reviewing pending cases, it was also decided to forward the cases of 7 POs to the respective courts for their discharge. One PO has been granted bail by the Punjab & Haryana High Court, he added.
Giving details he said that 19 POs have been identified to have gone abroad to different countries. "Their Lookout Circulars have been got issued at the International Airports so that they could be arrested at the entry points" he added.
Mr. Arora further said that in order to send a strong message to absconding POs, the properties in case of 7 POs have been attached invoking legal provisions and efforts were being made to identify and attach the properties of remaining POs.
The vigilance chief said that the actual status regarding arrests of remaining 55 POs would be reviewed on fortnightly basis in future. "The persons, who shall provide any information about any PO, which will lead to his arrest, shall be suitably rewarded and their identity will be kept secret", he promised.
