VIOLATION OF BUILDING BYLAWS NOT BE TOLERATED: CHUNNI LAL BHAGAT

CHANDIGARH, JULY 5:        The Punjab Government is committed to develop new towns and building strictly adhering to eco-friendly standards and building bylaws. Anyone found guilty of violating building bylaws, stern action would be taken against him. Town planners would be personally responsible to ensure that the building bylaws are strictly adhering to during the construction of new buildings.
These instructions were issued by Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat, Minister for Local Bodies, while presiding over a meeting with the senior officials of the department to review the town planning schemes.
Mr. Bhagat said that it would be the responsibility of the town planners to ensure that the building bylaws were being strictly adhering to during the construction of new buildings in their jurisdiction.
        Minister said that it had been noticed that despite the approval of construction plan most of contractors violate building bylaws. Mr. Bhagat ordered the town planners to be vigilant and keep on checking the buildings during construction. He said that if anybody found guilty of violating the building bylaws, legal action would be taken. Mr. Bhagat also instructed the officials to ensure safety parameters and adequate parking facilities during the construction of new buildings. Minister said that in case of any violation of building bylaws the owner and town planner concerned would be held responsible. He exhorted the senior officers of the department to conduct surprise raids. This meeting was convened to review the town planning schemes.
