A Joint Press conference was convened by Mission Aagaaz and Lok Kalyan Samiti for demanding high level probe into the Fire incidence occurred at Khanna Paper Mills Ltd. Amritsar recently. It is pertinent to mention here that the burnt scrap was dumped at the land belonging to Railways which again caught fire. We demand high level investigation preferably by CBI into the fire incidence and also Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) should be made to bring out the facts. Through EIA it will able to determine how much damage has been caused to the Air, Water and Soil since the inception of this Mill. We want to make it clear that we are not against any individual but we must bring out the truth and stop the damage being caused to the environment of Amritsar. Several studies conducted in the past have revealed the damage done to the ground water and soil around Tung Dhab Drain to which Khanna Paper Mill is the main contributor. On this occasion Deepak Babbar Executive Director, Mission Aagaaz, Jagmohan Singh Lok Kalyan Samiti, Dr. B.R. Hastir, Chander Shekar, Er. Daljit Singh Kohli (Amritsar Vikas Manch), K.S. Takkar, Rajeev Choudhary, Anil Khanna, Awan Prashar, Jyoti Grover, Rekha Mahajan etc. were present.
