Chandigarh August 21(Bharatsandesh news):—–: In order to ensure uninterrupted education facilities to the speech and hearing challenged children belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society with an annual income of not more than Rs. 60,000, the Punjab government has launched a number of welfare schemes.
Stating this here today a spokesman of the government said that an amount of Rs. 2400/- annually has been given to the speech and hearing impaired children form class 1 to class 8 under Scholarship Scheme launched by the department of Social Security and Welfare of Woman and Child Development Punjab. Adding further he said that for students of class 9 and above and also for any other higher course, an amount of Rs.3600/- annually as stipend has been fixed.
The spokesman also said that under Scholarship Scheme a budget allocation of 28.28 Lakh for the year 2012-13 has also been made. The district social welfare officers have been directed to identify the beneficiaries for this scheme so that the genuine students could be given the scholarship amount.
