PU SCHOLAR BAGS “INTERNATIONAL GATES AWARD”

CHANDIGARH- August 21, 2012(Bharatsandesh news):—–: Mr. Anshuman Shukla, currently pursuing Ph.D., since 2008, at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, has been selected for highly prestigious “Global Health Travel Award” funded by the “Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, USA”.
On the basis of his research work carried out under the guidance of Dr. O. P. Katare (Prof. and former Chairperson, UIPS) and Dr. Bhupinder Singh Bhoop (Professor, UIPS, and Coordinator, UGC-Centre for Excellence in Nanoparticles), Anshuman is the only research scholar from India selected among the 62 awardees across the world for this coveted assignment. Anshuman has been invited to attend and present his research work on Novel Optimized Vaccine Delivery Systems in the Keystone Symposium: Immunological Mechanisms of Vaccination, to be held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada from December 13-18, 2012. The award covers full costs of meeting registration, accommodation, round trip airfare and ground transportation in the host country (amounting nearly to 3035 USD).
Anshuman has earlier been awarded Young Scientist Award, March, 2009, by M. P. Council of Science & Technology, Bhopal. Anshuman has 9 international publications in high impact journals (with cumulative impact factor >16), and one Indian patent on novel vaccine delivery systems to his credit too. In last three years Anshuman has been awarded with International Travel Grants for presenting his research work in Italy (14th International Biotech. Symposium, September, 2010), Portugal (38th International Conference on Bioencapsulation, Portugal, October, 2010), Canada (Mucosal Biology: A Fine Balance between Tolerance and Immunity, March, 2011) and USA (AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition, October 2011).
