SHIMLA 22nd August, 2012-(Bharatsandesh news):Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister said that the State Government would give Rs. 15,000 as scholarship to as many as 2000 girls who would top in plus two examination and want to pursue their studies. He was addressing a public meeting at Sujanpur in Hamirpur district today after dedicating Rs. 5.25 crore new block of Government Senior Secondary School at Sujanpur.
He also dedicated Fire Station at Sujanpur and performed foundation stone laying ceremony of Lift Irrigation Supply Scheme to be constructed a cost of Rs. 77.30 lakh.
He said that the Government had launched various schemes for the empowerment of women folk and had decided to provide scholarship to girl students under Special Scholarship Yojna so that they may not face any financial hardship to pursue their higher studies and be self dependent. He said that the Government was providing free education to the girls upto highest level. He said that the State Government had also taken a decision to provide special financial assistance of Rs. 31,000 to the youth taking admission in IIT and IIM.
Prof. Dhumal said that the State Government was providing net books to 4000 such students who had excelled in matric examinations and the distribution process had been started on Independence Day. He said that the motive to provide this facility was to make youth well versed with modern educational facilities so that they may compete at National and International levels.
Chief Minister said that computer training had been started in all the Government Senior Secondary Schools in a phased manner besides the State Government had also launched a programme to give scholarship of Rs. 800 at block level to two boys and two girls students from 6th to 8th class.
Prof. Dhumal said that the State was heading towards becoming education hub of the country and the student teacher ratio is 18:1 as compared to 40:1 at national level. He said that Rs. 3500 crore was being spent during current financial year on education sector as compared to Rs. 1435 crore spent in the year 2007-08. He said that quality educational infrastructural facilities were available in the State and added that Rs. 64 crore ‘Atal Uniform Yojna had been launched in the State under which two uniforms were being given to students of Government schools from 1st to 10th class in a year besides Rs. 100 as stitching charges per uniform. He said that as many as 9,28,205 students had been benefited by this scheme.
Smt. Urmil Thakur, MLA welcomed the Chief Minister to her home segment and thanked him for undertaking various developmental projects in her constituency.
