ASKS DGP TO EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITY OF ADDING MORE CIVIL SERVICES

Chandigarh, August 29: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal has approved the special and non-transferable cadre for Sanjh Kendras to create a permanent, dedicated and specialized civil face of Punjab Police.
Reviewing the working of Sanjh Kendras in a high level meeting late last evening with DGP Mr. Sumedh Singh Saini, Mr. Badal said that by establishing 114 State-of-art Sanjh Kendras, the Punjab Police has shown to the whole country that how to project the civil face of the Police. He said that Union Home Ministry was so impressed with the concept of Sanjh Kendras that they have sought details from Punjab government to replicate the same people friendly experiment with all the states.
Mr. Badal said that to make Sanjh Kendras a permanent fixture, it has been decided to create a special cadre for the employees working in Sanjh Kendras with separate working conditions. He said that only computer literate, highly educated, suave youth with professional communication skills in Punjabi and English should be given opportunity to opt for this cadre. He said that employees opting for this cadre would permanently remain in this cadre and their job would be non-transferable back to the police. He said that DGP should work out an incentive scheme to attract best talent to Sanjh kendras. He said that even DSPs, SPs or supervisors of the Sanjh Kendras should be given special orientation courses in Public dealing to project the best civil face of the Police.
Suggesting a special civil dress code for the employees working in the Sanjh Kendras, Mr. Badal said that the dress code should give a corporate look to the employees and the ambience of the Sanjh Kendras should not give a feeling of Police Thana but of a corporate office.
Stressing upon the need for toning up Police out reach centres, Mr. Badal said that Punjab Police must launch an awareness campaign to educate the people regarding services being provided in Police out reach centres and Sanjh Kendras.
Dr. Parmod Kumar, Chairman Governance Reforms Commission, Mr. D.S. Bains, Principal Secretary Home, Mr. S.K. Sharma, ADGP, Mr. Hardeep Singh Dhillon, ADGP, Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Special Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Ajay Kumar Mahajan, Special Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister were also present in the meeting.
