Law and order needs precedence over all other issues for discussion

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress today made it clear that the issue of deteriorating law and order in the state was of urgent importance and it must get precedence over all other issues when it comes to discussing same in the legislative assembly. The party regretted that the ruling party was trying to run away from the debate even after having agreed to it a day before.
Spelling out the party’s stand, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh and the Congress Legislative Party leader Mr Sunil Jakhar said, despite the matter having been allowed by the Speaker and agreed to in the Business Advisory Committee meeting yesterday, the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal insisted on making a statement over some other issue apparently in a bid to avoid and circumvent the real issue of law and order.
The two senior leaders maintained that the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab is of prime concern to everybody across Punjab and hence it needs to be taken and debated upon top most priority. However, they added, the ruling party simply tried to run away from the debate for the reasons best known to it.
They clarified that the Congress party was ready to debate and discuss the issue raised by Mr Badal but only after the issue of law and order is debated in the house as agreed upon in the Business Advisory Committee meeting and allowed by the Honourable Speaker.
