CIPHET signs MoU with NABARD to transfer technology

NABARD will promote cattle feed technology of CIPHET
Ludhiana, February 12:(Bharat sandesh news):In a major step towards providing technology at grassroot level, Central Institute of Post
Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) has signed a memorandum of
understanding with National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development
(NABARD) for disseminating technology of cattle feed from potato waste so to
bring down cost of feed in dairy sector.
Appreciating role played by the NABARD in rural upliftment, Director CIPHET Dr U.S Shivhare said that collaboration with organizations like NABARD would help in
development of entrepreneurship in rural areas. “While CIPHET could provide
technology, NABARD would be a great help in providing financial support to
farmers and entrepreneurs,” he said, while handing over a copy of memordum to NABARD officials. Head Transfer of Technology Division Dr Deepak Raj Rai said that they have been collaborating with NABARD to propagate technologies developed by the
CIPHET. “The MoU would go longway in promoting technology as NABARD has strong
network with farmers in form of Kisan and Producers clubs,” he added.
"After the launch of area development scheme by NABARD on 23 August 2012 in Ludhiana focusing on upgrading dairy sector, NABARD has been working with the partner agencies like CIPHET to bring about backward integration of transferring
research based technologies for the benefit of the dairy entrepreneur. As a
major step forward today CIPHET transferred its technology of animal feed
making from potato waste to NABARD with the objective of facilitating cutting
down the feed cost of the dairy entrepreneurs and to augmenttheir incomes in a much better manner. More such transfer of technologies to give fillip to dairy sector are in offing by CIPHET in near future as well," added Deputy District Manager Mr Nalin Rai. Senior Scientist Dr Sangeeta Chopra, Institute Technology Management (ITMU) Incharge Dr K Narsaiah, NABARD Planning and Recovery Officer Mr Dalvir Singh and group of farmers were also present on the occasion.
