Forest Department to take over 1000 students to Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary

Chandigarh, January 12, 2013: To promote the love for nature and wildlife Department of Forests & Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration with assistance of Education Department and Yuvsatta-an NGO started ‘Nature trails’, involving trips to Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary for next fifteen days, covering around 1000 students of different Schools.

Today, the first School to go on the programme was Eco-club students of DAV Sr. Sec. School (Lahore), Sector 8, Chandigarh. Whose 50 students accompanied by their teachers and volunteers of Yuvsatta reached Kansal log hut to know about the rich flora and fauna of one of the best maintained Sukhna wildlife sanctuary of Chandigarh.

On the occasion regular bird watchers like Sarabjit Kaur explained to the kids about different bird, insight into the lifecycle of plants and trees and also about immense significance of Forest areas in sustaining our eco-system alive and thriving.

Tomorrow, it’ll be turn of students of the Gurukul Global School, IT Park, Chandigarh to visit Nepali Log Hut in Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary.
