Recommendations of Talwar Committe to be implemented within fortnight: Chunni Lal Bhagat

DELIBERATIONS ON IMPROVING THE STANDARDS OF MEDICAL EDUCATION
IN THE HIGH LEVEL MEETING

CHANDIGARH, 21st Feb 2013 (BharatSandesh News):– The Punjab Government is committed to upscale the standards of medical education in the state at par with global standards. Considering this in mind the state government has decided to implement the recommendations of Talwar Committee within fortnight.

This decision was taken in a high level meeting of the Medical Education and Research Department under the chairmanship of Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat, Minister for Medical Education and Research Department. He has directed the officers to implement the Talwar Committee’s recommendations.

Mr. Bhagat reviewed the performance of all Medical Colleges in the state and instructed the senior officers of the department to infuse a cordial and pleasing atmosphere in the colleges so as to promote the quality of the medical education. Minister asked the officers to prepare for next review meeting after one month, which would inspect development on the issues decided in the current meeting.

Mr. Bhagat also asked the Mrs. Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary of the Department to consider the cases of employment on compassionate ground sympathetically and to put up the concise and self-contained proposal for his approval. Besides other senior officers, Mr. A.S. Thind, Director, Medical Education and Research Department were also present in the meeting.
