PUNJAB CONTEMPLATES REPLICATING LAHORE’S SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT MODEL

 JALALABAD (FAZILKA), APRIL 2The Punjab Government is contemplating to replicate the Solid Waste Management Model of Lahore in Urban clusters of Punjab after examining its pros and cons.

 

 A three member delegation of Turk Company responsible for Waste Management System in Lahore led by Mr. Wasim Ajmal Chaudhary today gave a presentation to Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal at Jalalabad in which senior officers of the Punjab Government were also present. The visit of Turk Company is followed by the visit of Commissioners of Corporations of Punjab to Lahore that visited Pakistan to study the Urban Solid Waste management system of Lahore. The team is on three day visit to Punjab to study in depth the problems of Urban Waste Management system in various cities of Punjab especially of thickly populated Corporation Towns. 

  Impressed by the presentation, the Deputy Chief Minister asked Mr. Rakesh Verma, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ludhiana to study the concept and Mr. Badal has called a meeting of all Commissioners and Turk Company on 15th April to discuss various options of Waste Management for different cities of Punjab.
