PUNJAB SETS ASIDE RS.18998 CRORE FOR WHEAT PROCUREMENT

 The Punjab Government has set aside Rs. 18998 crore wheat procurement in the state during Rabi Marketing season 2013-14 to ensure timely payment to the farmers.Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that as a part of first installment the Punjab Government has received Rs. 13529 crore from Reserve Bank of India for the wheat procurement in the month of April. He said that the second installment of the balance amount would be received in the end of this month, which would be used for the wheat procurement in the month of May and June. . He said that elaborate arrangements have been made to make payment to the farmers within 48 hours of the procurement of their crop and lifting of the crop procured would be ensured after 72 hours of the procurement.He said that the government has fixed the target of 140 lac MT wheat procurement in the current season for which procurement which has already been started from 1st April. Arthias (Commission agents) would be paid online by the government procurement agencies through selected eleven banks.
