Printing Possible without water and chemicals

Ludhiana, 27 April 2013:– Printing is possible without the use of water and chemicals, said Mr. Anjan Kumar Baral, Head of Printing department at the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. Mr. Baral was presenting his seminar on ‘Waterless Offset Printing’ during soft intervention meeting of the Printing and Packaging Cluster, Ludhiana.

He said this latest development and growing technology is environmental friendly and already about 3000 such machines are working in the world. This technology was invented in the year 1982 in Japan by the Tory company. Most of the major problems in offset, he said, are due to chemical compositions and imbalance of water and ink. Now in this technology since no water or chemical is used all such problems are over, moreover there will be very less wastage in comparison with the conventional offset technology. Mr. Baral was specially invited to guide the Printing and Packaging entrepreneurs of Ludhiana about the latest trends and developments in the field of Printing and Packaging. The workshop on ‘Waterless Offset Printing’ was organized by the Offset Printers’ Association (OPA) under the ongoing soft interventions programme for the development of Printing and Packaging cluster at Ludhiana.

Shri Sukhminder Singh Rekhi, Senior Industrial Promotion Officer and Shri Darshan Singh, CDE both from the office of DIC, Ludhiana were also present on the occasion. Special invitee on the occasion was Mr. Varinder Dhingra, Managing Director, Printing and Packaging Cluster, Karnal.

Giving the details about the cluster formation at Karnal, Mr. Dhingra said that due to the support of Haryana Government especially Shri Satyaprakash, Director Industries Haryana it was possible for us to complete the work easily and ahead time. At present, he said, the tender for the construction of building for Common Facility Centre (CFC) stands floated and as soon as the building work will start we will float the tenders for the machinery and equipments etc. He advised the members to ensure trust among each other believe in the entrepreneurs who took first steps forward towards cluster development in this region. This can bring phenomenal growth to the printing & packaging industry by making it more productive & competitive at same time.

Earlier, welcoming the guests and delegates, Sh. Kamal Chopra, General Secretary OPA, said we are fortunate that the M.D. of Printing and Packaging Cluster, Karnal is present here and it will be the excellent opportunity to learn from him how to proceed further to establish the CFC at Ludhiana. Technical seminar on ‘Waterless Offset Printing’ recorded healthy gathering along with the Members from Offset Printers’ Association & Ludhiana Printers’ Association & other printers from Ludhiana. S. Charanjit Singh, General Secretary, Ludhiana Printers’ Association, S. Gagandeep Singh, Secretary OPA, Mr. Manoj Kalra, Mr. Neeraj Gupta, Mr. Parvesh Jagga, Mr. Nitin Sharma, S. Harvinder Pal Singh, Mr. Ramit Saxena, Mr. Amarjot Arora, Mr. Kunal Gupta, Mr. Arvinder Pal Singh, Mr Sukesh Bhardwaj and Mr. Balraj Dalal also attended the seminar.

S. Sukhminder Singh Rikhi appreciated the technical seminar organized by Offset Printers’ Association and said that at present it is the only cluster in Punjab where soft intervention is going on, he congratulated the OPA for the initiative taken and asked to start preparing the DPR so that the case for hard intervention and CFC can be produced to the central government. Towards the end of meeting vote of thanks was given by Mr Sukesh Bhardwaj.
