PAU SENIOR EDITOR (PUNJABI), S. GURBHAJAN SINGH GILL GIVEN WARM SEND OFF

LUDHIANA, JUNE 1:(Bharatsandesh news):The Senior Editor (Punjabi) at the Centre for Communication and International Linkages (CCIL) of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), S. Gurbhajan Singh Gill was given a warm send off on attaining the age of superannuation. The deans, additional directors, heads, faculty, and staff of various departments of the PAU including CCIL were present on this occasion. S. Manpreet Singh Aiyali, MLA, Dakha (Ludhiana); S. H.S. Golwarhia, Mayor, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation; S. Jagdev Singh Jassowal, Chairman and Founder of Prof. Mohan Singh Foundation; S. Pammi Bai, a renowned Punjabi singer;  and many other eminent personalities from across the Punjab state graced the occasion with their presence

In his letter of appreciation, Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, eulogized S. Gill for his 30 years of devoted service to the PAU and wrote that he has carved a special niche for himself in the field of Punjabi. “As the Senior Editor (Punjabi) at PAU, he has made a vital contribution to the agriculture by disseminating the farm worthy knowledge to the farmers through the monthly farm magazine “Changi Kheti,” he wrote. He is a prolific writer and the heritage of Punjab is very close to his heart, added Dr Dhillon, while extending his best wishes to S. Gill for the post-retirement life.

The Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Dr Gursharan Singh said that the PAU is proud of S. Gill for his great service to the farmers as well as the literary world of Punjabi. He wished him a joyous and a cheerful post-retirement life.In his welcome remarks, Dr H.S. Sehgal, Additional Director of Communication, recalled S. Gill’s meritorious services at CCIL and said that he is steeped in Punjabi ethos. Describing him as a multi-faceted personality, he hailed  S. Gill for making a tremendous contribution to the mother tongue “Punjabi” and the farming community through his writings. Stating that S. Gill has a long association with the Punjabi Sahitya Akademi in addition to being its President, he said that his achievements in various fields of life have helped PAU directly or indirectly.Dr H.S. Khingra, President, PAU Teachers’ Association, said that S. Gill will be entering a new phase of life after retirement. “We will support and stand by him at every step of life,” he added.

The former Directors of Extension Education, Dr N.S. Malhi and Dr S.S. Gill shared their reminiscences and lauded S. Gill for his great service to the PAU and the Punjabi literature.
In his remarks, S. Gurbhajan Gill expressed his sincere thanks to his colleagues at PAU and those from different walks of life, for their kind support and cooperation during the need of the hour. Sharing his nostalgic moments, he owed his success to his teachers.

On this occasion, well-known personalities like MLAs S. Manpreet Singh Ayali, S. Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Mayor, Ludhiana, S. Golwarhia, S. Jagdev Singh Jassowal, Dr Jaswinder Bhalla, Punjabi Comedian and Professor of Extension Education, PAU; Mr Bal Mukund Sharma, Punjabi artist; and Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director, Youth Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh; also recalled their pleasant memories with S. Gill.
