PUNJAB GOVERNOR GAVE RS. ONE LAKH FOR TRANSLATION OF SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI IN KANNADA

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 14(Bharatsandesh news): The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil today released book “Vachanna” translated by Mrs Loveen Kaur and Edited by Professor Pandit Rao Dharennavar of P.G. Government College Chandigarh.

       Appreciating the initiative of translating holy books of Kannada in Punjabi and  other languages Mr. Patil gave Rs. 1.00 lakh from his discretionary funds to Prof. Rao to translate Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Kannada language also. He said exchanging teachings of Gurus in different languages would help in creating healthy and peaceful society. He said that this holy book contains Bani of 173 saints of 12th Century from Karnataka and total 2500 selected Vachans translated from Kannada to Punjabi.

       Speaking on Life and teaching of Sri Basaveshwaro, Mr. Patil said the teachings and message of Sri Basaveshwaro are relevant in today’s complex and materialistic world.

       Mr. Patil honoured Mr. Arvind Jatti, President of Basava Samithi, Bangloru on the occasion.

       Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor and Mr. Jagral Singh Gill, Former MLA.
