Chandigarh, July 2(Bharatsandesh news):- Mr.Partap Singh Bajwa President Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee today expressed shock over media reports of photo copying of ballot papers for Panchayat elections in a marriage palace at Jalandhar and appealed to Hon’ble Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court to take suo moto notice of it and immediately order an inquiry by CBI to prevent the murder of democracy.
Mr.Bajwa said in a statement that entire process of Panchayat elections was a sham and only judicial intervention can save the sanctity of Panchayat elections. He said that in his 40 year long political career, he had never heard of such blatant misuse of the power, the way the ruling SAD-BJP government was doing to grab the democratic institutions.
Mr.Bajwa said that the ballot papers shall be printed at security press with proper numbering whereas the SAD-BJP government has hijacked the whole election process making it sham. He said that State Election Commissioner Mr.S.S.Brar had failed to perform his duties judicially and playing in the hands of ruling alliance.
Mr.Bajwa said that he was shocked to know that certain private persons were photo copying the ballot papers. He said that misuse of these ballot papers can’t be ruled out. He said that if ballot papers were not printed in time, the elections must be postponed. He said that he had several times raised this issue that State Election Commissioner was hand in glove with the SAD-BJP government.
Mr.Bajwa said that reports emerging from Jalandhar said that election parties were dispatched without ballot papers in Jalandhar. He said that the poll staff was told that they would get the ballot papers in the polling booths. He said that it was clear violation of rules. He said that he had no doubt that police force on election duty would be used by ruling party for booth capturing and shoo away opposition voters.
Mr.Bajwa also demanded a probe into the conduct of State Election Commissioner who has denigrated the constitutional office by bending on his knees before the SAD-BJP government.
