Industrial package to border areas will benefit whole Punjab: Congress MLAs

Chandigarh, July 2(Bharatsandesh news:The Congress Party MLAs from border districts of Punjab today claimed that the special industrial package demanded by PPCC President Mr.Partap Singh Bajwa for the border districts was indeed for the benefit of whole of Punjab.

In a statement issued here Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria MLA Raja Sansi, Rana Gurmit Sodhi MLA guru Harsahai, Parminder Singh Pinki MLA Ferozepur city, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa MLA Dera Baba Nanak, Aruna Chaudhary MLA Dina Nagar and Charanjit Kaur Bajwa MLA Qadian said that Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee President had written to the Prime Minister that industry from Punjab was relocating to other states due to special package given to three hilly states by NDA government in 2003. The package is demanded to offset the loss to Punjab.The Congress MLA’s said that if special industrial package was given to six border districts, the existing industry from Mohali, Ludhiana and other places which is shifting to other states would have better option to expand in border areas. They said that border districts were ignored for the long time. They said that SAD-BJP government led by Mr.Parkash Singh Badal had failed to set up any industrial units in the border areas where unemployment is highest in the state.

The Congress MLAs said that 274 industrial units shifted out of Punjab between 2004 and 2010 as many as 149 industrial units belonged to Batala industrial town of Gurdaspur. At least 23 units had shifted from Amritsar. They said that existing industry from Ludhiana was relocating to other states due to unfavorable policy of SAD-BJP government. They said that the industrial policy 2013 announced by Deputy CM Mr.Sukhbir Singh Badal had failed to address the problem of existing industry.They said that giving special package to border areas would have dual benefit for the border district as well for Punjab as a whole.
