Mission Aagaaz organized a social, cultural and environmental programme


On the occasion of Independence Day, Mission Aagaaz organized a social, cultural and environmental programme during which Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh, Ex-Jathedar Giani Kewal Singh, Dr. Shashikant Ex-DGP (Jails), Kaustab Sharma DCP, Dr. Sham Sunder Deepti, Baldev Singh Sirsa, Noted Lawyer & Human Rights Experts Navkiran Singh, Tejinder Singh Sudan and Jaswinder Singh were honoured for their service to the community. All the dignitaries expressed their concern over the rampant use of indigenous as well as sophisticated drugs by the people of Punjab especially the youth.  Dr. Shashikant was of the opinion that there is a dire need of political and social will to end the menace of drugs. He emphasized that if we want to get rid of drugs it is utmost important to break the unholy alliance of politicians and drug mafia. DCP Kaustab Sharma motivated the audience to be alert and help the drug addicts in their vicinity in getting rid of drugs forever. He said that his department remains vigilant all the time and have been successful in nabbing many notorious drug peddlers in the recent past.  

Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh expressed his deep concern over deviation of youth towards drugs. He said that adoption of western lifestyle by the youth has ruined the traditional values and rich culture of Punjab. He urged the audience to adopt a simple life style and tread the path of righteousness as per revered Guru Granth Sahib.  

 On this occasion the cultural show was presented by the girl students of ‘Mahila Navchetna Abhiyan’ being run by Mission Aagaaz. They depicted the present state of our society through short plays and also displayed their dancing skills on patriotic songs. Noted singers also sung patriotic songs and enthralled the audience with their rhythm.  

On this occasion Jagmohan Singh, Deepak Babbar, Er. D.S. Kohli, Manjit Jhangra, Gurbhej Singh, Kashmir Gill, K.S. Takkar, Rameshwar Dutt Sharma etc. were also present.
