Punjab Government is laying great emphasis to promote allied farming sectors and for this Punjab Government is providing financial as well as technical support to the farmers. To promote Dairy Farming in the district 3353 injections were imported from America and Canada to improve the breed of milching cows in the year 2012-13.
Divulging this here today Mr. DS Mangat Deputy Commissioner said that these injections have been made available at all the vetnary hospitals and dispensaries of the district.
Deputy Commissioner said that due to continuous efforts of the state government breed of milching cows is being improved and farmers are able to produce more milk with new techniques being provided by the government.
He said that cows breeded with the semen brought from America & Canada are producing 15 to 17 thousand litres milk per delivery. He added that sexed semen is being brought from America & Canada to put an end to the problem of stray bulls with the special efforts of the state government which would be helpful in producing only cows.
Deputy Commissioner said that 195000 foot &mouth vaccinations for and 35000 herpetic septicemia injections to save live stock from various diseases during the year 2012-13 and 163070 foot & mouth vaccinations injections and 170000 herpetic septicemia injections till July 2013.
Mr. Magat said that Punjab Government has established a Vetenary Polytechnic providing Surgical, Gynaecological and Anthologist services. He added that ultra modern Ultra Sound, Anaesthesia and X-ray machines have been installed for the better treatment of live stock. He further said that KATTA Farm has been established at Kapurthala for better breeding. He said that KATTA to 91 Pancahayts and 52 Dairy Farmers have been provided from this farm.
Deputy Commissioner told that Dairy Development department is providing training to prepare good quality green fodder 223 Quintal Mineral, Mixture and high breed seed was distributed on 50 % subsidy. He added that 265 quintal seed of green fodder was also provided on 50% subsidy.
