PAU ADVISES STRIKING STUDENTS TO RESUME CLASSES

LUDHIANA, AUGUST 20(Bharat Sandesh)

In a recent incident, Punjab Agricultural University has rusticated one undergraduate student and cancelled admission of two postgraduate students of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology because they were found lying on the roadside in an inebriated condition in the wee hours of 22ndJuly. One of these students was earlier on conduct probation and expelled from the University hostel. PAU administration took serious note of this act of indiscipline and misconduct because Punjab Agricultural University is known for its highest accreditation standards and discipline. These students and their parents met the Vice Chancellor and requested him to take lenient view of this keeping in view the career of the students. Vice Chancellor advised the students to submit written apology admitting their fault and assuring that they will not indulge in such activities in future so that this punishment may be reviewed. However, the students were adamant and went on strike. PAU administration is in constant touch with the parents and students to resolve this issue. Agitating students are being continuously advised to call off strike and resume their classes.
