The Technology Marketing and Intellectual Property Rights (TMIPR) Cell, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a lecture on “Understanding and Protecting Your Intellectual Property” here today. Mr Rajan Ailavadi, Managing Partner, CIP LEGIT (Intellectual Property Counsels), Gurgaon delivered his talk on the topic and highlighted the importance of intellectual property for the scientific community.
“Understanding of the basics of patenting would be beneficial for the scientists/researchers in disclosing and protecting their inventions,” he observed, saying that this will also help in promoting the culture of working towards innovations. The IPR protection will get funds through royalty as it helps in avoiding duplication of research, and in enhancing entrepreneur employment generation, he added. The faculty members were sensitized on the need for IPR and commercialization of technologies, to enhance the impact of technologies.
In his presidential address, Dr J.S. Dhiman, Additional Director of Research (Natural Resource and Plant Health Management), PAU, highlighted the significance of getting patents; and commercialization of technology, product and process. He appreciated the informative talk of the speaker, and the efforts put in by the TMIPR Cell for organizing the lecture.
Earlier, Dr S.S.Chahal, Director, TMIPR Cell, welcomed the speaker and the participants. He highlighted the mandate and the programme being carried out by TMIPR Cell.
