Majithia raised the issue of my properties to divert the attention of people from real issues: Bajwa

Jakhar says matter subjudice, will consider to move privilege motion

Chandigarh, 2 Nov 2013 (Bharatsandesh news):Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa President Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today strongly refuted the allegations of any irregularity in the land purchased by him and said that the issue was raised in the Vidhan Sabha under planned conspiracy to divert the attention of people from important issues like property tax, illegal colonies case and poor law and order situation.

Addressing a press conference here at Congress Bhawan Mr. Bajwa said that Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, revenue minister of Punjab had misled the house by quoting selective parts of report of Justice Kuldip Singh Tribunal submitted to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He said that since matter was subjudice, it amounts to contempt of court to raise the issue on the floor of the house. He said that nowhere in the said report his name had figured and rather names of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, his son Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and son-in-law Mr. Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Present DGP Mr. Sumedh Singh Saini, former DGP Mr. P.S.Gill are mentioned among the influential persons who owns land in the periphery of Chandigarh.

Mr. Bajwa said that on the one hand Mr. Majithia was quoting the Justice Kuldip Singh report in Vidhan Sabha and on the other hand SAD-BJP government had filed a SLP in the Supreme Court of India to get stay on the tribunal headed by Justice Kuldip Singh. He said that if intentions of SAD-BJP government were clear, let them withdraw SLP from the Supreme Court and allow the Punjab and High Court to proceed further against the beneficiaries. He said that SLP was filed to save the skin of member of Badal family, senior Police and Civil officers named in the report.

PPCC President said that he had full faith in the judiciary and what ever decision the High Court bench would give he would abide by it. He said that he would not like to comment on the title of the land purchased by him as the matter is sub judice since it has to be decided by the High Court. He dared Mr. Badal to face the probe into land deals initiated by the High Court.

Mr. Bajwa said that the PCB Private Limited, a company which purchased the land in question was formed in September 2011. He said that one of the allegations against him was that this company had made a payment of Rs.2.98 crores whereas approved capital of the company was One lakh only. He said that he had given unsecured loan of Rs.3 crores to the company and transferred money in three installments from his personal account on October 22, 2011(Rs.30 lakhs), December 6, 2011 (Rs.2 crores) and January 10, 2012 (Rs.70 lakhs). He said that the PCB Private Limited had made the payment of Rs.2.98 crores by cheque to the owners of the land. He said that all these transactions were shown in the balance sheet of the company and also in the IT return of the same assessment year 2012-13.

Mr. Bajwa said that he had got registered the land falling in Bharojian village at prescribed collector rate and the Tehsildar had verified the title of the land. He said that on one hand it is alleged that he had not paid the required stamp duty and on the other hand they are questioning the title of land deal. He said that if this land was under PLPA which can only be used for Agricultural proposes solely, how could he asked to pay stamp duty on commercial rates.

Mr. Bajwa said that Mr. N.K.Sharma Chief Parliamentary Secretary was only front man of Badal family. Mr. Bajwa further said that real issue in the Vidhan Sabha was not his(Bajwa’s) land deal but the cores issues of  emergence of real estate mafia, sand mafia, liquor mafia and transport mafia. He said that opposition party was not given enough time by the speaker to raise these issues. He said that ruling party had made malicious propaganda against him only to skip the important issues.

Mr. Sunil Kumar Jakhar who was present in the Press Conference while replying to a question said that Congress would consider to file privilege motion if it is found that report of the Justice Kuldip Singh Tribunal quoted in the Vidhan Sabha was breach of privilege.
