Jalandhar, September 8:(Bharatsandesh news):The village Raowali in Jalandhar district has witnessed the first ever lift irrigation system , in which the irrigation facility was provided from village pond to Panchayat land and fields of other farmers was set up to avoid overflow of Pond besides reducing the use of inorganic fertilizers as well as application of precious tube well water.
Hailing the efforts of villagers the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kamal Kishor Yadav said that the village falls in IWMP Project –IV. He said that to draft the project Gram Sabha meeting was called at village level alongwith Panchayat member , where guidelines and structure of IWMP scheme were explained to the villagers. It was also discussed in the meeting regarding EPA component which helps to build a lap port between the project Implementing Agency and the villagers before initiating the watershed program. The Entry Point Activity indentified through participatory rural appraisal (PRA).
It may be mentioned here that the project is located on the right side of National Highway goes from Jalandhar to Pathankot at distance of 3 kms from NH-44. As per funds allotted to village, for Entry Point Activity the estimate was prepared by PIA and got sanctioned for Rs. 90,934/- for Lift Irrigation from village pond. Pump stand of 450 mm was fixed on the edge of pond and RCC pipes of 225 mm within length of 170 meter were laid out to irrigate the 10 acres panchayat land and 12 acres of the farmers and benefitted to 10 families, he added.
