Connect Air India Delhi -San Francisco flight with Amritsar: AVM

Amritsar, 29 September 2015 (Bharat Sandesh News):– The Amritsar Vikas Manch has welcomed the news that Air India has announced a nonstop flight between Delhi and San Francisco from December 2,even though it will be the only nonstop link between India and the west coast of America. An AI statement says that San Francisco will become Air India’s fourth destination in the United States. Air India operates daily non-stop flights to New York (JFK), Newark (EWR) and Chicago (ORD) and the new flight will make travel seamless for the large Indian community in the valley.

The AVM Patron Dr. Charanjit Singh Gumtala said that this flight will also attract passengers from the adjoining Canadian province British Columbia where a sizeable population of Punjab origin is settled. He appreciated the introduction of this flight which will provide seamless connection to passengers from seven cities, all IT hubs, in India i.e Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Pune from Delhi. Likewise, the return flight from San Franci Delhi and San Francisco Delhi and San Francisco will provide onward connections to nine cities.

However, the Manch patron demanded that this seamless connection facility should also be made available to passengers bound for Amritsar because a major portion of the new flight-load will bound and sourced at Amritsar, the most important historical and cultural centre of north India and which supplies year round occupancy. A letter has been written to Prime Minister Narinder Modi, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju and Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley.
