GNDU ranked 19th amongst Indian Universities in Research

Amritsar, 14 February 2022 (Bharat Sandesh Bureau): – Guru Nanak Dev University has been placed at 19th Rank by AD (Alper-Doger) Scientific Index-2022 amongst 2146 Universities surveyed by them at National level. The University has also been indexed at 155th position out of 6569 Universities of Asia.

At World level, the University has been ranked at 824th position out of 14339 World Universities surveyed by Google Scholar. 91 (Ninety-One) Scientists of the University have also been indexed in AD-Scientific Index-2022 from various fields which include Medical & Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Agriculture, Business Management, Economics, Education, Social Sciences etc. The index further covers 16 (sixteen) Scientists of GNDU in the list of top 100,000 Scientists.

The AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index), is a Ranking and Analysis System that shows the total and the last five-year’s productivity coefficients of scientists based on the h-index, i10 index scores and citations in Google Scholar. Such analyses also help reveal the medium and long-term results of several policies implemented by institutions, including those of the academic staff employment and retention policies, wage policies, academic incentives, and scientific working environments.

“AD Scientific Index” shows the Ranking of an individual Scientist by 112 Subjects (Agriculture & Forestry, Arts, Design and Architecture, Business & Management, Economics & Econometrics, Education, Engineering & Technology, History, Philosophy, Theology, Law / Law and Legal Studies, Medical and Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Others), 256 Branches, 14,153 Institutions, 215 Countries and 10 Regions (Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, Arab League, EECA, BRICS, Latin America and COMESA) of the World.

The University is rising high in the field of R & D (Research and Development) under the visionary leadership of Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, the Vice-Chancellor of the University. Recently, Stanford University, USA has also identified 13 (Thirteen) Scientists of the University under World’s Top 2% Scientists list. The prestigious Nature Index also identifies the University among the Top 4 Institutions of Punjab and 10 Institutions in North India.

The University takes pride in publishing quality Research Papers in Collaboration with more than 83 countries of the World. QS World University Ranking 2022 has also identified the University among 5 Best Institutions of Punjab in Asia Region. QS-IGAUSE Rating System has rated the University in Diamond category in the field of Research, Faculty quality and Infrastructure. The rankings conducted by various magazine like “The Week”, “India Today” and “OUTLOOK” magazines have also ranked University at 7th, 11th and 17th position in the Country respectively.

The h-index (Hirsch index) of the University is also 2nd highest among all Institutions of Punjab State which is an author-level metric that measures both the productivity and citation impact of the publications, used for an Individual Scientist or Institution. The index is based on the set of the Scientist’s most cited papers and the number of citations that they have received in other publications.

The University has developed state of Art facilities in Centre of Emerging Life Sciences equipped with latest sophisticated Scientific Instruments. The University has also established Golden Jubilee Incubation Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The University has also taken steps to establish advanced centres for Research, Data Analytics, Technology and Innovation. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the Faculty and Research Students for achieving the laurels in the field of Research Development and Innovation.
